Exciting news! We want you to know that we haven’t just stopped our training. Our trainer has enrolled on several courses to improve their training skills and one to teach you scent skills which we will be offering shortly.

The MOST exciting news is that we are developing online courses, this means that we will be able to offer you online courses, one 2 ones and behavioural consults online. We can’t wait to get this all set up and start working with you lovely people and your beautiful animals.

A new section on the website will go up shortly so please keep checking for new content.

We are so excited to launch this and believe that this is the perfect time now as a lot of people have been furloughed and dogs are on restricted exercise.

So let’s get training!

Maintenance grooms...

Do you like your dog's coat long but struggle to keep on top of knots and matting?...

Do you have a dog that sheds a lot and you just cannot keep on top of it?...

As dog lovers we hate brushing lots of knots and matts out of your dog, almost as much as your dog hates having it done. We also understand that there are good reason for you to want to keep your dog long. So we don't want to just clip them short when you want your dog kept long. However, we also don't want your dog to hate being groomed.

We have the answer maintenance subscriptions.

These will include -
  • Weekly or fortnightly brush out (depending on requirements) and fragance spray
  •  A 6 weekly bath offer this includes bath, dry, eyes & ears cleaned, nails and underpads trimmed and fragance spray.
  • Health checks with each visit.
This will allow you to keep your dog in a longer style and we will advise you when we think it's getting harder to manage to see if you want them trimming.

We have put our thinking caps and decided to offer this for fixed monthly subscription prices varying according to individual dogs due to coat type and size. So please contact us for more information. Call 01507607577 or email muddypawscountrystore@outlook.com.

Nutrition & Behaviour

I am a big believer in we are what we eat and the same goes for our pets. After recently doing a course on nutrition, it has made me think even more about what we feed our pets, particularly our dogs. Most other pets we do not have so much control over what they eat, most cats will go out and catch their own meals as well as what we are feeding them. Or refuse to eat things if we do not keep their meals exciting! Horses and small animals graze as well as the hard feed we feed them.

Most dogs by their very nature as scavengers will eat pretty much whatever is put in front of them! Their diets are pretty much dictated by us, and what is most convenient for us as well as trying to do best by them. Over time we have developed a philosophy of feeding the same food, day in day out to our dogs. Not only can this cause intolerance's to develop, it's also pretty boring. Imagine eating the same thing day to day out! Research is coming through about the importance of keeping gut microbes healthy and the affect it has on the mood and therefore behaviour as well as health.

Basically research is suggesting that by just adding fresh (fruit, vegetables, meat, fish and herbs etc) to your dogs diet you can drastically reduce your dogs risk of cancer. All you need to do it add a variety of fresh things to your dogs dinner 3 times a week to dramatically reduce their risk of cancer and to have a healthier happier dog. Just research that you are not adding anything toxic to dogs before adding it. The thing I love best about it is watching the dogs try different things and picking out what they like best. It's a great form of enrichment for them too! Meal times are taking longer because they are thinking about what they are eating.

If you would like advice on your dogs diet, references or recommendations on where to learn more about this please pop into store, or message, or email.

Happy feeding I have attached some photos of my doggies dinner this morning.
